Note
“Lama Bada Yatathana” is a renowned Andalusian Muwashshah set in the Nahawand maqam. Originating from Al-Andalus, this poetic and musical masterpiece has been passed down through generations, becoming one of the most celebrated pieces of its era. Its flowing melody and rhythmic grace reflect the rich cultural fusion of Arabic, Spanish, and Mediterranean musical traditions.
In this arrangement for guitar duet, I have sought to capture the elegance and depth of the original composition while utilizing the expressive potential of two guitars. The interplay between melody and accompaniment brings out the intricate ornamentation and rhythmic subtleties characteristic of the Muwashshah form. Through harmonization and counterpoint, this duet adaptation highlights the beauty of “Lama Bada Yatathana” in a fresh yet authentic way.
This arrangement offers a unique way for guitarists to explore the sophistication of Arabic-Andalusian music, blending historical depth with the intimate expressiveness of the classical guitar.
